The main stylistic inspiration for the ‘Damnation! The Musical!’ brand identity was 20th century Soviet Constructivist design. A few pieces that directly inspired this material can be seen below.

Creative Direction and Product Design

‘Damnation! The Musical!’ was an original musical comedy produced in 2022 by a group of artists and performers in NYC. The plot follows the employees and patrons of a coffee shop located in purgatory. The musical is brash, funny, and bold—and I wanted the visual identity to reflect that. I used strong contrast and ridiculous imagery to convey the feeling of the show. I found these images in a book on the side of the street, and felt that it was compelling and true to the nature of the show to collage them into the promotional material.
